Weekend detox is something very rarely talked about. Although almost every other person knows that we need high degree of detoxification at least once in a year, no one is willing to pay tribute to it provided they think that they’ll need at least a month to complete their detox program. But fortunately there is a shorter program of detoxification with the help of which you can take care of your body as well as can cope with your chores. Having a detoxification process done on a weekend will not bother your daily working routine and will also keep your body healthy and free of any toxins.
Day before you set on your plan:
On Friday night start practicing your weekend detox plan. Eat fresh fruits, lentils, fiber rich diet. Avoid excessive intake of caffeine like coffee and tea, instead you can take green tea it is a good detoxifying liquid. Go early to bed as you have to take a sound eight hour sleep and have to wake up early in the morning. Most important factor is that you must have to stay away from any stressing situation. Stress, tension and depression are number one cause of tortured emotions and are considered as emotional toxins.
Day – 1 (Saturday):
When you wake up, start your day with bed side yoga practices. Stretch your body and do some relaxing exercises. Make a jug full of lemon juice in which keep the proportion, like half a lemon for every 8 ounces. Take one glass before brushing or taking anything else. And then keep taking one glass for entire day, with an interval of one hour. Take green tea instead of coffee.
When you are bathing dry brush your entire body it stimulate circulation and effectiveness of lymphatic system. Start dry brushing from toes to heart and then enjoy a warm bath. Follow the day with a light breakfast that not just satisfy your hunger but also does not contain any harmful particles. You can use juices, fresh fruits or vegetables. No sugar at all!
Do any activity that refreshes you. You can read a book, visit an art museum, and listen to refreshing, soft and soothing music.
In afternoon take a lunch of bitter vegetables like dandelion. These will work as a magic against toxins present in your body. After lunch go for a walk, a brisk walk will do its work.
Try steam bath in a local spa if you can afford, if it’s out of your range you can go for a hot bath with Epsom salt. This is will stimulate sweat organs of your body allowing maximum removal of toxins out of the body making your weekend detox effective. After bath take a nap, if it’s not your style then you can silently lie in the bed and listen to the soft voices of humming birds or moving fan. These soft sounds will keep your senses fresh and serene.
In evening weekend detox diet have some raw nuts. In the evening do a tranquil activity, like knit, read or listen to soft music. Go to bed in peace and serenity.
Day – two (Sunday):
Repeat this entire routine next day along with a gentle massage. Your weekend detox will be complete.
